Ullapool Self Catering is a local, family run holiday home that has been in operation for 20 years! We provide a friendly service which aims to meet your needs, if you have any special requests just shout.
Local, Family Run, Self-Catering Accommodation
Tina and Alan were born and bred in Lancashire as was our son Joshua, although we moved to Ullapool when he was just 3 years old. Our other son, Jordan, was born in the Highlands and both children attended Gaelic Medium Education throughout Primary School.
We feel so lucky to live in such a stunning location and a safe and vibrant community. Tina has a rural consultancy business, TLC + Associates, her work is mainly around community engagement and development which she loves. Alan, a joiner by trade, is kept busy with managing Ullapool Self Catering, and taking care of our own home and Tigh na Reultan. Our adult kids are busy with their own lives - Josh works at Ullapool Leisure Centre and Jordan is currently studying Photography in Edinburgh.
Our Story
As a Joiner, Alan had always wanted to build his own house and a holiday in Fort William started us on our quest to find a piece of land in the Highlands. We toured the Highlands and Skye looking at land and finally came across a couple of plots at Rhue near Ullapool and Braes, Ullapool. Very quickly we negotiated the purchase of land at Braes and have not looked back since. Our intention was to retire to the Highlands, sadly following the death of our first child, Jacob, we very soon changed our priorities and our planned Highland life was brought forward.
Living in a static caravan on the building site at Braes was fun for a while with a 3 year old and two Airedale Terriers, but the birth of a new baby and all that comes with it suddenly made the caravan seem very small. We purchased Tigh Na Reultan and lived in the cottage for around 6 months until refurbishment meant we needed to once again move. At this time in our lives, Alan was busy renovating Tigh na Reultan and building Jacob House (Jacob is the name of our first child) and we were then able to move into a small part of the house at Braes. Many years later, Jacob House is still a work in progress, but that is the Highland way - a much slower pace of life!

Ullapool Self Catering was established in 2005, at that time we had just managed to navigate the internet with a dial up connection, our first website went live with no photos and we were so pleased when our very first guests contacted us.
